Now at under 140,000kms the cylinder heads or head gasket is gone and needs replaced. In April, the water pump was replaced ($4,000 job because water pump is in a bad spot). No real issues for a year, then starting having transmission issues a. They replaced it with a 2011 Dodge Journey SXT which had done less kms (126,000kms) and on face value it looked good. So took 6 weeks to find a suitable replacement. The car dealer even told us this car shouldn't have been sold. First 2012 Dodge JourneyR/T Diesel purchased in Nov 2016 was so bad it needed a new transmission after only 136,000kms. Looks grear, big size but terrible in evety way. TERRIBLE!!!! My wife and family deserve better than whar this car gives you. Do yourself a favour and avoid Jeep/Chrsysler/Dodge/Fiat. The car is 4.5yrs old and has done 80,000km!!! I contacted the manufacturer whose only response was that since the repairs weren't carried out by their service department they refuse to provide any compensation. I had to have the car towed to the nearest transmission repair shop for complete replacement at a cost of $4200.
In Jan 2019 with 3 of my 4 children in the car the transmission suddenly failed. This may cause the edge of the horn plate to rub through the wire insulation, creating an electrical short circuit which could cause the driver airbag to deploy, increasing the risk of a crash and/or injury to vehicle occupants." After acting on the recall notice when I received my vehicle back the airbag light kept flashing on and off intermittently, I again called Northern Motor Group where i was advised by the service department that the recall was "nothing to do with the airbag" and I would be charged if I brought it back in. In approximately May of 2018 I was finally notified of a T47 recall on the vehicle which according to the recall notification "the steering wheel wire harness may become trapped between a tab on the steering wheel plastic back cover and the edge of the horn plate. Took it to our mechanic who ordered the $600+ part and replaced, Northern motors refused to pay for part even though car still under warranty and a common problem. Purchased 2014 Dodge Journey brand new from Northern Motor Group Bundoora in June 2014, car was pretty good for first 2.5 years then things went downhill fast! In May 2017 while still in warranty the oil filter housing cracked and leaked oil all over our driveway, a "known issue" with this model car in the US however not disclosed as one in Australia.
